Kev Crane AKA The Singing Plumber
Artist Info
It's around 1989; my best friend Aaron and I are talking about starting a band, or a duo, whilst drinking a pint and eating chip butties in a pub in Basford, Nottingham, during our lunch break at college and listening to The Human League on the jukebox. We were excited about the prospect of being on a stage, in a pub, or in a club somewhere.
It wasn't until a couple of years before we decided to audition for an agency and then took the road, every weekend, mainly around the Midlands area, with a van full of people. We sang everything from the Stones to Oasis. Britpop was big back then. We liked our 80's electronic music too. It was always a challenge to play guitar music with just one keyboard.
I also entered a few competitions, like "Stars in their Eyes" and "Fame Academy."
We continued throughout the 90s until Aaron decided he'd had enough and wanted to quit the band. I carried on as a solo act for a while, but it was never the same. Then I hit
30 and thought, well, it hasn't happened, It's time to do something else, and that was that, until now
